Assignment 2, Figure Drawing, Tone

Initital sketches for my final piece for tone, with my model in a reclined pose. I did use different mediums for the sketches, but found that I still preferred graphite pencils when it came to doing the tone. Once this final piece is done, I'm going to look into branching out on the materials I use; I've always wanted to try using ink on paper.

The final drawing. Did try to use charcoal initially, but it turned out horribly. The tone was too dark, and I there was no variation to the tone, and graphite pencils was the medium I felt comfortable.

I'm still struggling with the fundementals such as proportion and tone. As you can see from the above, the body is perfectly in proportion, but the head is not; it's far too small for the size of the body. It was difficult to try and get the proportion of everything correctly whilst working on the foreground, which is obviously at the forefront of the drawing, where the feet are, and trying to have the body elongated, through the middle ground and ending with the head in the background.
